This licence describes what customers of Vehicle Imagery may do with the images our API delivers. It is written to be read without a legal background, because the most common question we get from legal and procurement teams is simply: may we use these images where we intend to? This page is the answer. Where a signed individual agreement exists between us and a customer, that agreement prevails over this published version.
Subject to an active paid subscription and our Terms of Service, Vehicle Imagery grants the customer a non-exclusive, non-transferable, worldwide licence to use the images delivered through the API within the customer's own products, services and business documents, for the duration of the subscription.
Customers may cache and store delivered images in their own infrastructure, including CDNs, object storage and generated documents, for the duration of the subscription. This is expected use, not an exception: resolve once, serve from your own stack.
Images delivered during a free trial are licensed for evaluation only: testing the API against your own data, internal review and integration development. Production or commercial use of trial images requires a paid subscription.
No attribution is required. The images carry no watermark and no visual branding of ours, and nothing needs to be displayed alongside them. Crediting Vehicle Imagery is welcome and entirely optional.
The images and the catalogue remain the intellectual property of Vehicle Imagery. Vehicle designs, badges and trade dress depicted in the images belong to the respective manufacturers; the licence covers the use of our renderings in the ordinary course of advertising, selling, insuring and financing vehicles, and the customer remains responsible for using them in truthful contexts.
When the subscription ends, the licence ends with it. The customer ceases new use of the images and deletes stored copies, including caches, except where statutory retention obligations require previously generated business documents to remain intact in their archived form. Reactivating a subscription restores the licence without re-delivery of unchanged images.
We render images from licensed manufacturer vehicle data and work to keep trims, colours and model years correct. Where the API substitutes a fallback, for example a neighbouring model year, the response says so, and customers should surface or handle that information appropriately in their products.
If your intended use is not clearly covered by this page, ask us at info@vehicleimagery.com before building on an assumption. The answer is usually yes, and where it is not, we will say so plainly.
