Show the colour they are about to order, not a swatch beside a silver press photo.

Add one parameter and the studio shot is repainted on demand. Every car with colour support carries the five house colours, and its brand catalogue on top.

One car, five house colours, no second photo shoot

The same studio shot, repainted on request. Look at the reflections in the bonnet: they stay where they were, because the paint is rendered again rather than tinted.

A swatch asks the customer to imagine. Most will not.

Choosing a colour is an emotional decision with a four figure price tag. A small circle of flat colour next to a picture of a different car does not help, because paint is not a flat colour: metallic shifts with the light, pearl moves across the panel, solid reads differently on a curved wing than on a door.

  • Sales answers the same question by phone, over and over
  • The configurator shows one car, the delivered car looks different
  • Photographing every combination is arithmetically impossible
  • An internal folder of colour photos ages the moment a facelift lands

Repainting, not recolouring.

A hue filter over a photo looks like a hue filter over a photo. Here the paint itself is rendered again, which is why a metallic finish still catches the light and a solid colour still looks flat where it should.

  • Reflections, chrome, glass and badges stay exactly as they were
  • Solid and metallic paints render true to their finish
  • Works together with transparency, shadows, ratio and size
  • First render is cached on the CDN, repeat requests are instant

Questions we get about this

Which colours can I request?

Five curated house colours on every vehicle with colour support, plus the original manufacturer paints listed for that brand.

Does it look like a filter?

No. The paint is re-rendered on the actual studio shot, so metallic and solid finishes stay distinguishable and reflections stay intact.

Can I combine it with a transparent background?

Yes. Colour, transparency, grounded shadow, aspect ratio, mirroring and size all compose in one request.

Is the first request slower?

Slightly, because the render happens then. After that the image is on the CDN and every further request is served from cache.

What if a customer orders a colour you do not have?

Ask for the vehicle colour list first and offer what is actually available. The endpoint tells you per car.

Why a colour swatch costs you conversions

A buyer choosing a colour is making an emotional decision with a four-figure price tag attached. Showing them a silver press photo and a small round swatch asks them to imagine the result. Many will not, and the ones who do will imagine it wrong.

The gap between swatch and paint

Paint is not a flat colour. A metallic finish changes with the angle of the light, a pearl effect shifts hue across the panel, and a solid colour reads completely differently on a curved wing than on a door. None of that survives a circle of flat colour next to a picture of a different car.

What changes when the car is actually repainted

  • The customer sees the car they are about to order, in the colour they picked
  • Sales stops answering the question of what a colour really looks like
  • Configurators and quote documents show the same vehicle, not two different ones
  • Nobody maintains a folder of photographed colour variants

Because the render happens on request, there is no library to build and no storage to plan. The combination is produced when someone asks for it and then served from cache for everyone after.
